Cooper Nixon is a composer, sound designer, and music supervisor, for film, TV, and video games. We're proud to present the first in a collection of his ambient and experimental soundtrack works, released exclusively through 30th Floor Records.

"The Herman Hickory Galleria Massacre", is Cooper Nixon’s love letter to vintage giallo and slasher films. This release will delight fans of John Carpenter, Dario Argento, 'Stranger Things', 'Video Nasties', and anyone who has an admiration for cult and vintage horror.

“I composed and recorded 'Massacre' in a very organic, stream-of-consciousness kind of a way. Some parts were virtually improvised and recorded in a single take, others I spent longer trying to get right. I wanted to create a singular piece of music with multiple movements that would play continuously as one long track, giving the impression you’re listening to the soundtrack of an old stalker film in some dark, dingy cinema back in the early 80s, complete with warped synths and repetitive arps"

“So many of the soundtracks to those old stalker movies were recorded very cheaply and quickly in a minimalistic way to save money, with just one or two synths, but there’s something so endearing and haunting about them, and I wanted to compose and record my soundtrack in the same authentic fashion. They don’t write this kind of stuff for movies anymore, so it was a lot of fun to emulate that vintage sound, and create a synth based score to an imaginary horror film”

This release includes the bonus track: 'Nowhere To Hide Continuous Play Mix', where downloaders can hear the soundtrack as one long relentlessly terrifying piece, as the composer originally intended it to be heard.
